Christopher Masoure was born into an artistic family in 1957 in Toronto. He began painting at a young age following his fathers footsteps. Educated in Fine Arts at the Art Institute of America.
Early work consisted of mainly abstracts but has more recently evolved into abstract landscapes. “While I am consumed by the seductive nature of colour relationships, I’m always searching for the perfect balance”. His paintings reflect a journey, both spiritual and physical.
Many layers of paint are applied with palette knives and brushes create a soothing atmospheric finish that invites the viewer to navigate and discover. Masoure’s process involves an intuitive approach while each application of colour becomes a self discovery. Through reduction and layering, the lines and form emerge while they also disappear into obscurity.
