Born in Montréal 1977. Multidisciplinary self-taught artist, Jonathan Séverin explores the existing relation between form, movement and color. His taste for purism in objects, furniture and architecture leads him to want to disturb, by establishing a certain imbalance in the lines of a sometimes simplistic and aseptic environment. Resolutely modern and pop at the same time, he never hesitates to compile and use the finest details of an object, a landscape or a simple reflection of light which he transpose thereafter, like he says it so well, in his “”Makkina Sensa’ ‘. He draws in his great energy, the emotions and the sensitivity necessary, which pushes him to explore and produce fascinating results, that do not pursue any preconceived guiding line or principle. Then these images are translated through his gestures and then materialized into a more precise manner. Jonathan acquired his experience during his multiple trips abroad, were his curiosity and eager to learn lead him to met and study a wide range of artists at different periods of his life, in places like Barcelona, New York, Toronto, Miami and Montreal obviously. He took part in several creation workshops locally and during his various stays dedicated to his personal and artistic training and development. The thematic of movement, fluidity and forms are omnipresent in his work. He combines these elements with the pigments of his wide chromatic circle, doing it in a timeless way. Brushes in hand, he transposes the results of his “” Makkina Sensa” on canvas with his emotion and his never ending desire for the JUST and BEAUTIFUL.
