Bogdan Molea
Artist Profile
BIOGRAPHY
Bogdan Molea, born in 1958 in Bucharest, Romania, is a highly skilled artist whose work blends technical expertise with a deep appreciation for cultural and historical artistic traditions. In 1984, he graduated from the Nicolae Grigorescu Institute of Fine Arts in Bucharest, specializing in Monumental Art, Conservation-Restoration, and Art Education. His studies, combined with his
exposure to ancient works of art—particularly Byzantine frescoes in Romania’s medieval architecture—shaped his artistic direction. Additionally, the influence of the Italian Renaissance
contributed to his understanding of space, perception, and technical execution.
In 1999, Molea moved to Toronto, Canada, where he continues to live and exhibit his art. His
hyperrealistic oil paintings, often featuring everyday objects, challenge viewers by playing with perspective. By applying geometric principles from the Italian Renaissance and incorporating 3D technology, he creates visually striking works that engage the viewer’s perception.
Molea’s figurative, object-oriented work also explores space through dramatic forms and strong visual impact, reflecting his commitment to professionalism, cultural continuity, and modern notions of beauty. By scaling up ordinary materials with mathematical precision, Molea transforms the mundane into monumental, captivating pieces that elevate everyday objects into
something extraordinary.
Molea’s exceptional technical prowess and contemporary sensibility make his work a powerful experience, especially when viewed in person. His paintings invite us to see the world, and the simple things within it, in a whole new light.
