Infinite Stillness presents a collection of landscapes inspired by the Canadian wilderness, transcending geographical and temporal confines. The artist’s compositions evoke a timeless realm where movement and space intertwine, drawing viewers into a universal narrative shaped by personal experiences and collective memories.
Drawing from the traditions of seventeenth-century Dutch landscapes and infused with contemporary sensibilities, the paintings feature low horizon lines, sculpted cloud formations, and chiaroscuro lighting. Influences from Turner to Caravaggio infuse the works with dynamism and nostalgia, blurring boundaries between land, water, and sky.
Through subtle shifts in tone and pattern, the artist explores light’s transformative power, inviting contemplation on the ephemeral nature of existence. Each skyscape, whether bathed in sunset hues or shrouded in impending storms, reflects the sky as a symbol of collective memory.
Infinite Stillness offers viewers a space to explore their own emotions and memories, finding solace amidst the chaos of modern life. Serene yet solitary, these paintings beckon viewers to embrace the perpetual stillness that surrounds us, inviting a deeper connection to nature and self.
